My First Steps Building a WordPress Website

For my personal website, I chose WordPress.com because it is free to start, it does not require me to buy hosting or install anything, and it was the easiest option for a beginner like me. I wanted to focus on learning WordPress itself instead of worrying about servers or technical setup.

One of the challenges I ran into was getting used to the Site Editor. Since my site uses a block theme, I was not sure where to find things at first, and I did not understand why some parts of the page, like the hero section, were locked inside a pattern. I also had to figure out how to edit the button and add a link to it, because the options were not where I expected them to be.

One thing I learned is that WordPress is built with blocks, and almost everything on the page (text, buttons, images) can be edited by clicking on it. I also learned that patterns are reusable layouts that you can customize to fit your own content.

This is just the beginning of my journey in the WP Credits program, and I am excited to keep learning and contributing to the community.
